Butterfly So Sweet

I am a butterfly
Flying through the air.
There’s one butterfly that’s
Really unfair.
I drink nectar from flower to flower
Isn’t that cool?
Maybe I should go to the swimming pool!
I went to a place
That’s nice a quiet today,
I made a lot of friends, hooray!

Elaina, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterfly

Butterfly where are you?
Up goes the butterfly.
Tim catches a butterfly.
Tod catches a butterfly.
Even butterflies begin as eggs.
Really, butterflies begin as eggs!
Flies are not butterflies.
Ladybugs are not butterflies.
You have a fuzzy stomach!

John, First Grade, Chicago, IL

I am a Butterfly

I am an egg at first.
I turned into a caterpillar.
I eat and eat and eat.
I grew very fat.
I started to shed my skin, gross!
Then I went into a pupa.
I was in there for a long time…
I came out soon after that!
I was a butterfly!
I was black, yellow, and orange.
Ahhhh! What if I am ugly?
I am not ugly.
Everyone would be staring at me if I was ugly.
My wings are crumpled for a few days.
After a couple of weeks, my wings were straight.
The end.

Pretty Butterflies

(To the tune of the Adams Family)
Butterflies are pretty.
And they like nectar.
A butterfly has colors.
Lots and lots and lots!
(Refrain)
Butterflies are fun,
To watch them in the sun.
When they are caterpillars,
They are called larva!
(Refrain)
(Say it three more times!)

Traia, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterfly

Butterfly eats
Fly to
The flower
It sucks
The nectar.

Daniel, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterflies

Butterflies are pretty.

They fly around the park.
We let our butterflies go.

The Butterfly Poem

Butterflies are nice.
Butterflies are good.
And they fly day and night.

In my hand and everywhere!

Butterflies

Butterflies are cool.
Up and down they go.
The butterflies are pretty.
The butterflies drink nectar.
Star, Star, you are my butterfly!

Brianna, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterfly

Butterflies are cute.
They fly all the time.
They are red, black, and blue.
They do tricks.
They are soft.
And they begin as eggs.

Tim, First Grade, Chicago, IL

A Three Word Poem About Butterflies

It is spring.
Butterflies are out.
Butterflies flying everywhere.
Butterflies flying away.

The Butterflies

(To the tune of the Adam’s Family)
They’re creepy and they’re crawly.
They’re beautiful and pretty.
They are bright and dark.
And they are butterflies!
(Refrain)

Lauren, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterfly

(To Tune of the Adam’s Family)
I am a butterfly, fly, fly.
I drink a lot of nectar
From beautiful flowers.
I flap and flap and flap.
(Refrain)

Owen, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterfly

A trick in a tree,
A butterfly hid.
“Now no blue flower for you,” I said.
“I’m sorry,” said the butterfly, “I was playing find me!”

Maria , First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterflies Fly

Butterflies fly
High in
The sky
And fly
Higher and
Higher and
Then they
Fly the
Highest ever!

D.J., First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterfly

Butterflies are cool!
Up the butterfly goes.
Time to see a butterfly.
They fly over the sky.
Everytime you see a butterfly it says, hello!
Roll around with me!
Fly over the sky.
Like a butterfly.
Yeah butterfly!

Charlie, First Grade, Chicago, IL

The Bug

I once was an egg.
Then I was a caterpillar.
Now I am a butterfly
And I fly, fly, fly.
I drink, drink, drink nectar.

Frank, First Grade, Chicago, IL

The Three Butterflies

Once upon a time, there were three butterflies. And they saw nectar. But there was a big, big, grasshopper!
The butterfly flew halfway and the grasshopper hopped out and said, “I’m going to eat you!”
“Don’t eat me,” said the little butterfly, “Wait until my bigger brother comes.”
The medium butterfly came.
And the grasshopper hopped out and said, “I’m going to eat you!”
“Wait until my bigger brother comes,” said the medium butterfly.
Then came the biggest butterfly.
Then the grasshopper hopped out and said, “I’m going to eat you!”
The biggest butterfly and the grasshopper got into a fight. Then the butterfly won and they ate and ate nectar.
And no one saw the grasshopper ever again.
The end.
Michael, First Grade, Chicago, IL

Butterflies

Flutter, do they not?
Monarchs, moths, any type
God made them beautiful
Just like you.
God loves His butterflies
Just as He loves you.
God made butterflies
Just as He made you.
Flutter, do they not?
Oh yes, my friend,
They do.
Ashley Lauren, 7th Grade, Age 12, Springfield, MO

Butterflies

Butterflies are beautiful,
Butterflies are cute,
They flutter through the air,
Just like you and I want to do.
